Say what?!!?
Hey Fam,
How are ya? Hopefully just peachy. I just want to start with an apology for the infrequency of the updates to this blog. Ever since I started at Cal Poly and Hasan was declared ABD (All But Dissertation...YAY!) it has been a whirlwind at the Johnson House. By the time we get home at the end of the day we don't want to do anything, but eat and spend some time with each other before it is time to go to bed and start the next day. We use the weekends for catching up on the rest we missed out on during the week. So despite our best efforts, the blog was put on the back burner. SORRY!!! Lately, I (des) have been asked, "What's up with the blog? The same message has been up there for awhile", which made me realize just how many people check in to see how RaKhem is doing. So, I made a vow to make this blog more of a priority again. Now, don't expect us to have a new post up every day, but we will definitely be more regular about keeping y'all in the know.
Well Ra is just as handsome as ever and he is growing like a weed. He continues to be the world's biggest flirt and he seems to be very comfortable with that. The big news is that he now has a vocabulary (of three words)! Can you believe it?! His first word was "ba-ba"...not as in bottle, but as in his nickname (des' nickname for Ra) Bubba Bear. I know it sounds crazy, but it's just an in-house thing:). His second and third words were "mama" and "dada". We are not quite clear on which came first, so we just call it a tie. Now, we don't know if Ra knows what he is saying or not, but it is so cute to here him say things that we can actually understand.
Ra is 8 months old. Time sure does fly. Eight months old and still no signs of crawling, but we are not trippin'. I actually think he might skip crawling all together. He is not too fond of being on his hands and knees (even though he can do it). He would rather stand than get dirty on the floor. He can sit without support, go from a sitting position to a crawling position, roll around, and entertain himself for extended periods of time...but crawling just doesn't seem to be his cup of tea. We have faith that he will be mobile sooner than we think. His personality is certainly blossoming. Ra does not like waiting for things, but sometimes he just has to suck it up because we don't want him thinking that we are at his beckoned call (hopefully I spelled that right). But he is definitely bright and seems to learn something new everyday. It's amazing to just sit and watch him explore new objects and environments. When you look at him you can just tell that he is going to make a difference in the world someday. Until next time...
Peace & Luv,
des, hasan & ra

Parents never listen close. "Ba-ba" is him requesting the presence of Bomani BABAtunde Jones, his honorary uncle that is known worldwide as the Almighty International Baba.
Get hip, folks.
